FORMCERAM C215

Formceram C215 is a high performance castable ceramic. It acts like fine cement but is stronger and capable of temperatures above 3000°F. It is a fine grain material that makes exacting copies of molds and is a stable high temperature potting and filling material. Formceram C215 has a high concentration of Aluminum Oxide so it is an excellent thermal conductor. It has similar handling properties as plaster of Paris. After curing it is also strong enough to be gently machined or ground allowing for exact tolerances.

Formceram C215 is a dry powder that is gently mixed with clean reasonably pure tap water. It should not be stirred rapidly to avoid mixing air into the mass that weakens its properties. The material can be poured or worked into a mold pushing, tamping and tapping should be used to insure proper void free filling of the mold. Molds can be made using our Formceram C328 elastic mold making material. The material achieves most of its strength overnight but longer is better. Before rapid exposure to high temperature the material should be dried thoroughly at 170 ° F.
