FORMCERAM C328

Formceram 328 is a reinforced urethane based molding compound. A 2 part mixture of thick fluids when mixed it yields a honey thick liquid. It makes a durable yet very flexible mold with excellent shape retention. The good flexibility allows it to be peeled away from both the arbor that it was formed from as well as brittle materials casting into it. The molds produced can be used many times. Additionally Formceram 328 can be used for potting and as a conformal coating. It offers excellent protection from most environments and shock. It has an intermittent temperature rating of 270°F and being rubber it has low thermal conductivity.

Formceram 328 is made by mixing 100 parts of 328A to 114 parts of 328B. These components should be blended thoroughly together to a uniform color slowly as to not introduce air into the mixture. The resulting mixture has a 20 minute pot life and can be removed from the mold in about 1 hr though we recommend longer to assure a complete set. If the article being copied is porous or has very intricate shapes then a mold release is recommended we have had good luck with PAM the cooking spray. Additionally we recommend that both the mixing as well as the mold itself is produced in disposable containers which can be discarded as Formceram 328 in it’s cured state is resistant to most solvents. If the part is large than a split mold should be used where it is cast into a shell that stays with the mold to provide dimensional stability.
