CERCOAT 809
Cercoat
809 is a 2 component aqueous based medium gray ceramic coating. This is
a high expansion ceramic that is an excellent coating for iron and steel
where heat is a factor. This coating operates from cryogenic
temperatures all the way up to 3400 °F. This is excellent in fly ash
and anytime abrasion resistance is needed at elevated temperatures. It
is resistant to most gases and has good moisture resistance. Being
ceramic it also has excellent heat conducting properties and being light
in color will protect surfaces from radiant heat effects. When applied
in a thicker mixture and can be used as a high temperature caulking and
gasket cement. The coating may be applied by any popular means it can be
diluted with clean water and sprayed it can also be applied using a
brush or roller. It is water based so tools and spills can be easily
cleaned.
Cercoat
809 is a simple 2-component mixture where the thick liquid is mixed with
powder component. You can vary the amounts to suit your application from
light creamy fluid to thick paste. If Cercoat 809 is to be sprayed first
mix it up to a thick liquid like latex paint. Then using clean water add
small amounts of water to "cut" it to a spray able viscosity.
Naturally the surfaces need to be clean and free from all oils or
greases. If possible we suggest that the surface be cleaned with an
abrasive type cleaner such as Ajax that will prepare the surface and
assure adhesion. After painting a minimum of 1 hour be allowed for the
material to dry. Then a final dry if possible of about 170°F before the
Cercoat is exposed to temperatures above 300 °F. If this is impractical
then make sure that the coating is air dried for a day in low humidity
before high temperature exposure.
