| Cercoat 815
Cercoat
815 is a medium expansion bright white coating for use on other ceramics
and refractory metals. It is a mostly Alumina bright white coating can
go up to 3000°F and has good reflective
properties. It also will bind insulation surfaces to prevent dusting.
The bright white surface and the sealing of the surface reflects heat so
can be used to provide a more uniform heat in ovens and kilns. It will
create a strong barrier to abrasion as well improve resistance to
mechanical impact. It is a single component coating paint that may be
applied by dipping, brushing, or spraying. It is also recommended for
surface sealing of fixtures etc. where there is a chance that moisture
would be picked up and have to be driven off before reheating. It has
been used on electrical components in heat to provide electrical
insulation at elevated temperatures.
Cercoat 815 just has to be mixed thoroughly to a uniform consistency.
It may be thinned with clean water if lowered viscosity is required for
spraying. The surfaces need to be clean and sturdy before painting. If
the surface to be coated is extremely porous then it should be wetted
down with water to prevent it from wicking all the binders from the
coating. We can provide a wash if required that will stop some of the
porosity before the final coat is applied. The coating should be air
dried for a few hours until hard. The residual moisture is driven off by
slow heating at 170°F. The moist areas will
have a slightly darker wet appearance and will turn whiter when dried.
The coating can then be used at high temperatures.
